Andy Rice
Chairman, Yellowood Future Architects
Andy Rice graduated from Cambridge University to enter a career in marketing and advertising. He was director of Strategic Planning at Ogilvy & Mather Johannesburg, before establishing a freelance strategic planning consultancy and founding Yellowwood. Andy is one of o the most respected brand and communications strategists in the country. He is a popular speaker and participates on various panels as a judge or chairperson, such as the Loeries, FM Adfocus and so forth.

Jeremy Sampson
Group Executive Chairman, Interbrand Sampson
Jeremy is the founder and executive chairman of the Interbrand Sampson group, which is based in Johannesburg and has offices throughout Africa. With over 100 creative awards under his belt, Jeremy is recognised as spearheading the development of branding on this continent – arguably the most under-branded in the world. He spends his time lecturing, writing and broadcasting and acts as visiting professor at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town (he also sits on the National Advisory Panel of Vega).

Seth Farbman
Worldwide Managing Director, Ogilvy & Mather New York and President of OgilvyEarth
Seth Farbman serves as senior partner and president of OgilvyEarth, the sustainability marketing agency of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide. He advises corporations on global marketing strategy, which increasingly includes sustainability as a key growth driver and product and brand differentiator. Seth has surrounded himself with some of the leading thinkers in the sustainability space – including members of The OgilvyEarth Lab. He works with a range of organisations like DuPont, Coca-Cola, Kraft and Siemens that harness sustainability to influence global markets and protect the world’s population. He is also leading the development of Hopenhagen, the global United Nations campaign designed to create popular support for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 15) in Copenhagen later this year.

Leslie Pascaud
Director, Responsible Marketing Practice, Added Value, Paris
Leslie Pascaud is currently director of Added Value’s Responsible Marketing Practice, which she launched in 2006 in recognition of a market need to reveal the unmet commercial potential for more responsible brands and businesses. Since then, Leslie has helped clients like Shell, Yara, Monoprix, Nestle, Dove, Lipton and Danone use sustainable development as a springboard for innovation and brand building.

Andrew Welch
Executive Director, Landor Associates, London
Andrew Welch is an executive director in the London office of Landor Associates. He has spent more than 10 years with Landor in their London, Paris, and Madrid offices. Originally part of the retail environments team, Andrew ran programs for Eurotunnel, Rank Xerox, and TotalFinaElf. With a passion for a holistic approach to branding, Andrew integrated his efforts with the corporate brand team, which he now leads in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Angela Bruwer
CEO Interbrand Sampson Inside, Interbrand Sampson
Angela is responsible for managing and directing the specialist ‘Inside’ field of brand engagement on the African continent and within the global network for Interbrand Sampson Inside. Her career started with Leo Burnett, from where she moved to Hunt Lascaris and then Absa Bank as GM of Brand Marketing, with the responsibility of amalgamating four banks into one new brand. Angela launched ABC, her brand-marketing consultancy, prior to starting with Interbrand Sampson Inside.

Gail Klintworth
Chairman, Unilever SA
Gail Klintworth has recently been appointed Executive Vice President of Unilever South Africa, having previously held the positions of Chairman and Global Brands Director. She has over 20 years experience with one of the most competitive FMCG companies in SA. Her focus is “Drive Growth through Releasing Potential”, particularly in by making a broader contribution to society, both through sustainable business and personally.

Marthinus Duckitt
Executive Creative Director - Draftfcb Impact
Marthinus has more than 20 years experience in the advertising and marketing industry. He has worked on many big name brands including Spoornet, Eskom, Sun International, Telkom, South African Brewers, MNET and Siemens. He joined Draftfcb Impact as its executive creative director in 2000.

Dave Varty
Conservationist, Londolozi
Dave Varty is the co-founder and owner of Londolozi private game reserve which became a model for conservation development across Africa. In the 1990s, he co-founded CCAfrica (now andBeyond) which paved the way for successfully merging a ‘for profit’ objective with sustainable conservation. Dave continues to be a voice for right relations between land, animals and people and the Londolozi brand remains original, authentic and still stands for the ‘Protector of all Living things’.

Dr Owen Dean
IP Attorney, Spoor & Fisher
Owen H Dean holds the degrees of B.A (Law), LL.B and LL.D, all from the University of Stellenbosch. He is a senior partner of Spoor & Fisher and in charge of the firm’s trademarks and copyright practice. Owen has served on the Government’s Advisory Committee on Intellectual Property (IP) Law for 20 years and as chairman of the Copyright Sub-Committee. Author of ‘Handbook of South African Copyright Law’, he also serves as a member of many international editorial boards. Owen is also the legal advisor to FIFA on its trademark.

Jeunesse Park

Jeunesse Park, founder of Food & Trees for Africa (FTFA), has been recognised with numerous awards for her efforts in environmental conservation, forestry and climate change. A passionate and inspired leader, she has shaped FTFA into a well recognised and respected brand that is South Africa’s only national social enterprise focusing on sustainability.

Mike Schalit
Group Creative Officer, BBDO SA
Mike Schalit, group creative officer of BBDO SA, has been voted as the top creative mind in the country by the industry’s representative body – Creative Circle – for the past 10 years in succession. He began his career by failing as a rock musician, but turned his attention towards the advertising field. On the eve of SA’s first democratic election in April 1994, Mike co-founded Net#work which later became a member of BBDO Worldwide and today, it is one of the most successful agencies in SA.

Laurika du Bois
Head of Marketing & Communications, WWF South Africa
Laurika du Bois is head of marketing and communication at WWF South Africa, in charge of aligning the SA brand with the organisation’s global vision. She has spent many years in the marketing and fundraising sector, holding senior positions at Boland College and UNISA as well as consulting for MEDUNSA, Damelin and Vista University. Laurika has been recognised for outstanding leadership, including the Excellence Award in Communication and Development from Unitech.

Kay Nash

Kay Nash is the CEO of Yellowwood and has engineered its remarkable growth in the past four years. Having spent many years in the marketing arena, including running her own marketing consultancy in the UK, Kay focuses on ‘marketing and brand performance with a purpose’ and is passionate about women’s role in business and as special multi-minded consumers.

Derek Carstens
Marketing and Commercial Chief Officer, 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee
Derek Carstens served on REMCO before being seconded to the OC as chief marketing officer in 2008. Previously, he served on the board of the Organising Committee for the 2006 and 2010 World Cup Bids and then as First national Bank Supporter of FIFA 2010 World Cup. After working 20 years in the advertising industry with Ogilvy in SA, England and Australia, Derek joined FirstRand as group brand executive looking after such brands as Rand Merchant Bank, First National Bank, Momentum and Westbank.
